GD Holz. We make your voice heard.

MISSION
OUR DRIVE AND ASPIRATION

The German Timber Trade Federation (GD Holz) is the cross-cooperative and representative industry association of the German timber trade. It bundles the economic interests of 800 member companies and represents the industry vis-à-vis politicians, organisations, media and society. According to our own estimates, the degree of organisation of GD Holz represents approximately 60 percent of the companies and 80 percent of the industry’s revenues.

We are

  • Member of the German Timber Industry Council (Deutscher Holzwirtschaftsrat; DHWR), the top representative body of the German timber industry with 15 member associations;
  • Member of the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (Bundesverband Grosshandel, Aussenhandel, Dienstleistungen e.V.; BGA);
  • Member of the European Timber Trade Federation (ETTF).

Thanks to our recognition as a monitoring organisation in the sense of the European Timber Trade Regulation (EUTR), GD Holz can support its member companies in the fulfilment of their due diligence obligations.

We make you
Stronger.

Together we are stronger. GD Holz is simultaneously both a professional network and a communication platform. We see ourselves as a nationwide network that promotes communication and exchange among its members with the inclusion of its industry partners. The voice of single individuals is often overheard while many voices bundled together attract attention to what they are saying. That is what we call strength.

We make you
More profitable.

As we are a trade federation, GD Holz participates in a large number of technical and standardisation committees for wood and wood use where we represent the interests of our members. This not only heightens your visibility to the industry and consumers, but also makes you more profitable. Starting from our common experience, we develop knowledge advantages over the competition that result in economic success.

We make you
More visible.

Wood is immensely important for the economy and society. Regrettably, the industry’s achievements and efforts do not always receive their due. We want to change that, so we are drawing the attention of consumers to the professional timber trade. We illustrate the strengths and advantages of the timber trade on the website www.holzvomfach.de.

OUR JOINT VISION
We want to raise the awareness of the immense importance of wood in the business and political communities and in society in general.

The goal of our daily work is to instil in all stakeholders, including society, the understanding of an intelligent timber industry as environmental and climate protection. Without timber construction, it will not be possible to slow down climate change. Wood is an environmentally friendly, durable and renewable raw material that binds significantly more CO₂ than is emitted during its processing.

Wood is not only one of the oldest building materials; it is also an important raw material for our common future. We here at the German Timber Trade Federation have set ourselves the goal of supporting our members in putting timber on the market in accordance with the principles of sustainability, fairness, environmental friendliness and conservation of resources. It is time for to change how we think!

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

As a member company of GD Holz, you benefit from a wide range of services that we can offer you thanks to our experience and expertise. We are the Number One point of contact when it comes to wood — if don’t know where to turn next, we will be happy to help and advise you.
